"Why have I been sleeping on coming here? I'm devastated that I've lived in Rapid City for 3 years and this is my first time trying this place. First off, I'm so happy to have found a Mexican restaurant that serves table salsa that has an actual kick and awesome flavor. Secondly, the Carne Asada in the street tacos is phenomenal. Thirdly, I've never had rice and beans THIS GOOD! (And I grew up in Tucson, Az) My only disappointment is that they were out of Aguas Frescas when I came, but that's life, and Jarritos is a good second choice. I will DEFINITELY be coming back here often, as this is going to be my new favorite place to get tacos."

"We've only dined here once for dinner but it was great. Homemade salsa, delicious guacamole and large portions. We had the shrimp fajitas and the chicken enchiladas and a tostada. The meal was not only full of flavor, the plating looked good (odd to say I know). The restaurant staff were friendly and the service quick. Highly recommend for a great meal."

"If you're craving Mexican food, I highly recommend El Sombrero! I went there twice during my trip to Rapid City, and both times it did not disappoint. The first time, I ordered the Tres Hermanos -- shrimp, chicken, and beef -- and the second time, I tried the Camarones a la Fiesta. Both dishes came with rice, beans, lettuce, and guacamole. Everything was so good, and the guacamole was absolutely delicious! The portions are generous, and you'll definitely leave full. 100/10!"

"Wow! The food here was very good! No wait when we went; got seated right away. We got margaritas which were also good. Service was quick and attentive. I got the carne asada and the steak was flavorful and juicy. The rice was also very good, I normally don't finish the rice but it was so yummy I finished my whole plate. They do charge 3.95% fee for using credit card."

"When you walk in your greeted at the door within 1 minute and seated right away! The servers are fast and diligent, the food is delicious, tasty and they give you big helpings! It was made fast and brought out piping hot. Overall a wonderful place to eat! We got the mocajete and it came covered in all kinds of meats and veggies. Definitely worth the visit."

"The food was ok, but to be fair, they had an issue with the freezer that limited their menu. I hate to say it but I think they are too far from the border to have great Mexican food. Honestly, who puts carrots and cauliflower in a fajita?!"

- Brett K.

"My husband and I had some bad luck with restaurants this trip. Thankfully we found a good one here. I ordered the meal that comes with an enchilada, a burrito, rice and beans. The portions are large here. I was only able to eat half. My margarita was good too. Our server was quick and brought everything out to us exactly as ordered. They hit the mark on the first try with no issues. I recommend this restaurant."
